Sunday, February 12 / anatomy & asana workshop | The shoulder complex

This 3 hour workshop will take a deeper look at the structures of the shoulder complex.
Using specific exercises and yoga asanas, we will explore how the shoulder functions as a joint requiring a large range of motion, a joint designed for mobility.
This workshop is suitable for all levels having some experience in level 1-2 Iyengar yoga. Interested students must be able to assume the preparations to a basic shoulder stand and head stand.

Inversions are the most powerful yoga poses for your physical and mental well-being when done regularly with awareness. In this Iyengar yoga workshop, students will discover the benefits of Sirsasana (headstand) and Sarvangasana (Shoulderstand), and how to enter and stay in them safely. Please note, this workshop is not suitable for women during their menstrual cycle. Pre-requisite: Minimum of 6 months yoga experience.

This monthly Friday afternoon class is taught by Louie for adept students who can hold a ten minute independent headstand, balance in Sirsasana II in the middle of the room and have a dedicated home practice. We will focus on what each practitioner could work on in the weeks between classes, in order to grow in their practice.

Sunday, February 26 / anatomy & asana workshop | The intricacies of the hips

Unlike the shoulder complex, the hip is a joint designed for stability.
This workshop will explore how the hips are connected to the pelvis, the abdomen and the stability of the feet.
By using specific yoga postures and discussion, we will explore these relationships in this 3 hour workshop.
This workshop will be suitable for students having some Iyengar yoga experience. Students must be able to assume the preparations to a basic shoulder and head stand.
